Jerry Can Clan

I've seen these computers built in plastic jugs every time I see anything related to Emmabuntus. I thought it was cool, but I didn't get the whole picture.

The jug is really supposed to be a server. The jug is used just to prove that it can be done. The parts used are supposed to be from any broken or salvaged computer (UpCycling). In the end the jug kind of becomes the signature of the project.

So, in the end, you have a server/computer, in a 20 liter jug with a zipper top that is built from scraps that enables children to have computer education, adults to become familiar with computers and technology, hospitals to run low tech medical equip and scheduling, and probably a budget of close to nothing if you're a hoarder or one of the local "clans" helps.

Of course, it is powered by Linux; of course. There is no sense in taking a recycled/upcycled creation/salvage and putting a $120 OS on it... I mean they use Linux on the International Space Station for crying out loud- that should tell us something!
