Jerry Can Clan

I've seen these computers built in plastic jugs every time I see anything related to Emmabuntus. I thought it was cool, but I didn't get the whole picture.

The jug is really supposed to be a server. The jug is used just to prove that it can be done. The parts used are supposed to be from any broken or salvaged computer (UpCycling). In the end the jug kind of becomes the signature of the project.

So, in the end, you have a server/computer, in a 20 liter jug with a zipper top that is built from scraps that enables children to have computer education, adults to become familiar with computers and technology, hospitals to run low tech medical equip and scheduling, and probably a budget of close to nothing if you're a hoarder or one of the local "clans" helps.

Of course, it is powered by Linux; of course. There is no sense in taking a recycled/upcycled creation/salvage and putting a $120 OS on it... I mean they use Linux on the International Space Station for crying out loud- that should tell us something!

"With Xubuntu we can often just pull the hard drive, put it in a different system and it’ll 'just work'..."

This is a wonderful article on the benefits of Xubuntu.

Xubuntu is a lightweight version of Ubuntu, a very common and popular form of Linux/GNU.

"Malware and viruses have also driven up the demand for Xubuntu systems. In the past several years we’ve seen many more people adopting Xubuntu because they’re fed up with how easy Windows systems get infected."

Xubuntu is one of my primary Linux/GNU distros that I use; and I'm using it right now!

Xubuntu works on EVERYTHING from the latest computers to the old and decrepit, desktops, laptops, and even the hardware impaired netbooks. They even have a version for Chromebooks!

Why would you want Xubuntu? With the open source licensing and ease of use AND INSTALLATION, we here at ATNPC can install Xubuntu on your pc for as little as $35, whereas Windows' reboots are limited to the COA on your pc and can be as much as $100 (including software bundle and system tweaking).

There is another version of this called Emmabuntus
I've seen people in countries that don't even have computers use Emmabuntus. what they do is assemble computer components into buckets or jugs, install Emmabuntus, and now they have computers for medical services, children's education and so on.

Here's a good one- a desktop computer built in a jug powering an obviously homemade 3D printer... What's your excuse?!

Deepin 15

This is looking great, really great

Deepin 15 Release "stick to original idea, stick to our dream"

Crossover is gone; too bad- that was an effective piece of software that allowed you to run Windows based programs in Linux. It costs money normally, but Deepin 2014 had it included for FREE.
Bye bye Crossover; I will miss you

Instead of having to swim through menus trying to find you programs, they are all available on a single page

Adding programs is very easy. All you do is go to the "Deepin Store", select a category, or do a search, and install. It immediately shows up on the program "launcher" page.

Deepin 15 is Debian-based which makes it EXTREMELY easy on your hardware. It runs perfectly on old computers, desktops, laptops, and even on NETBOOKS.

If you are used to running a Windows computer and have an Android-style smart phone, you will find this operating system very useful and easy to use.
